On Sunday 12th Jan we will be hosting a pickled onion competition!
Onions are now available from The Seal – get them before they’re gone!
The onions used do not have to be obtained from The Seal and it is ok to use shallots. You may pickle red or white, we do not mind.
There is an entry fee of £2 per jar. This money will be donated to St Wilfrid’s Hospice.
Judging will commence at 3pm
Prizes will be available for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place.
We suggest the equivalent of a 400g jar with perhaps a few other in reserve. We recommend that the onions should be cut into 2 to 4 pieces. This will give everyone a chance to sample each entry.
We will have guest judges and their decisions will be based on hottest, spiciest and overall best. Presentation is also important! The judges will take all feedback into consideration – we encourage everyone to come down and sample the entries, and to bring along some homemade chutney, cheeses and biscuits to share.
